Just Shoot

Georgia's Sand BucketBy Georgia Osten
What a fun-filled weekend! We headed outta town after work on Friday for one of our favorite pastimes. That being, watching any of our Grands playing sports. As usual, we left home so early, too early to go straight to the game. Basketball, that is! So, we headed over to our kids’ house in Friendswood first and unloaded our stuff to spend the night. After a short visit, we piled into a couple of cars to get to The Littles’ game. Four-year-old Littles, what a hoot! Up and down the court, sometimes having to remind the eager players which goal to head for. Thank goodness they don’t switch sides at half time. Three games going on at one time in this gym, at the big Methodist Church on 518, it’s pretty chaotic, but oh so much fun.

Back home to homemade chicken noodle soup and garlic bread, and some adult beverages of course. Time for bed for the big brother and the twins, and time to pull out the Mexican Train game. We played until midnight, didn’t make it to double blanks, but enough is enough!

Daddy was making pancakes for the boys when we woke up, and it was almost time to get ready for the 8-year old’s basketball game. The 8-year-old kids are a bit more accomplished in the skill of actually making goals and running like they know what they’re doing. Every once in a while, they still have to be reminded which goal is theirs. And, they do switch sides at half time. We fell in love with the coaching for this Christian organization Everyone Plays!

After the games, before leaving for home, Pierce decided we all needed to go out to lunch to celebrate the fact his Grands and his Aunt Ree and Unkie Paul came to see all their games. He picked a Mexican Restaurant, even though he ordered chicken strips and fries for lunch. Whatever?? I’ve been craving Mexican Food for quite a while, full tummies for a short ride home.

Siesta in my near future!
