Little Miss Shrimp

(June-5-2012) Well, it happened again, I don’t have to search for a topic this week either for my Sand Bucket … As it happens, 38 years ago today, I gave birth to my first child and my life has never been the same again. After a mere 24 hour labor, she enters the world and forever captivates my life. When she was only 10 days old, we moved to Crystal Beach to live with my mother and grandmother. I remember riding the ferry with this infant in my arms, upstairs we went because it was too hot to sit in the car – for me anyway, she was cozy as could be. Talk about a beach baby, this child actually grew up on the beach! Her playground was the beach, hours and hours of fun, sand and water, sleeping like an angel for her naps and bedtime with her “Greenie” blanket. She would spend hours riding “The Green Machine” (so named by Janet Leigh) around in BayVue while her Daddy and I worked the store. You always knew where she was by the dune buggy flags Daddy had attached to the tricycle. Thirty-six years ago, the very first Little Miss Shrimp Contest was held and she was victorious, she IS the one and only! I think we should have known, even back then, that she would be the friendliest, the most outgoing, and the most charming of ladies.

Happy Birthday my dear (my Poptart)! Love, MOM.

GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you.

Great points altogether, you just gained a new reader. What could you recommend in regards to your put up that you just made some days in the past? Any positive?
