As we finally get to wrap up this year, I want to a give special shout out and thank you to all of my customers, clients , and friends who have made everything successful despite a challenging year. I am fortunate to have a profession where my clients become good friends! Despite some tough conditions coming off of months of flooding rains early in the year and fresh bay water, we were able to adapt for some great trips by picking best days and different locations. As my clients can affirm, I am always up front on fishing conditions and I don’t over book every day of the week so we can be flexible to go on the best days for clients who are able to reserve and plan ahead. Actually, we already have some late February and spring break days booked. As I stated above, I don’t book every day in order to allow clients the choice of the best days especially when less than favorable weather is expected. It’s not too early to lock in your reservation now for February through Spring Breaks.

East Bay conditions remain about the same as in my previous report. Fish locations will be concentrated and dependent on tide levels, water temps, and remaining bait/mullet activity. Fish retreat deep with cold water and low tides, and spread out on adjacent mud flats when afternoon sun warms the shallows. East Bay can be challenging this time of year now with northerly winds leaving tides at dangerously low levels for long shaft motors and too low to get the boat out of slings. Proceed with caution if you are not familiar with the waters to avoid damaging your motor, prop, or getting stuck in the mud.

For those that have taken my class, the winter weather patterns are here to stay for a while and conditions now will be dependent on water temperature and tide levels. Don’t forget to contact me for your included support before your next trip, especially as it looks like we have post frontal conditions and low tides to work around every week for awhile in the extended forecast.

On the Water Classes/ Seminars are the Best time you will ever invest in to improve your fishing success for the long haul! I have added some special features this year that included ongoing support and updates.

Into February, the weather and water conditions become favorable again to conduct the on the water classes and available days fill up quickly. In February, winds return to reasonable levels for classes since we run all parts of the bay including mid bay unmarked oyster reefs on the 55+ miles we cover.

This time of year we can run trips where the whole family can be successful with a large variety of fish. Email for questions and availability. Now is the time to book an East Bay Class with the prime fishing just around the corner.

For exact fishing locations and techniques, I am conducting one-on-one classes of the Galveston East Bay System. We will spend a half-day trip exploring that bay and the techniques and timing of fishing there. Bring your hand-held GPS and a map and note pad and I will further your knowledge of the bay and patterns for fishing in all of the seasons of the year. These classes include everything from locations to tackle and lure selection; thus have a lot of content. So, I limit them to 2 persons max at a time. Call 409-256-1265 for more information.
