After a second state forced shutdown, the Eagles Board have been working with TABC to have their re-opening, meeting all of the State guidelines for providing a food menu in addition to full returning to normal operations. One of the key elements with re-opening is ordering food with your second beverage. The menu includes Pizza, a variety of sandwiches, egg rolls, and specials from time to time.

The Lodge re-opened Thursday and enjoyed a great turnout for the popular Thursday Night Darts. Friday the Ladies Auxilliary met at noon for a Potato and Apple Peeling Party for the 6th Annual Oktoberfest Saturday lunch. What a great group of hard working ladies, Shea Bailey, Karen Aucoin, Lisa Deisch-Day, Sharon, Lulu, Cindy Hunt, Mary Jane Parsley, and Ruth Currie.

Friday afternoon LB Hunt FOE Director of Entertainment partnered with the United Methodist Church to host the Gulf Coast Blood Mobile and rallied the Eagle members to sign up and give blood. The Gulf Coast Mobile Blood Drive was very successful with 30 people turning out to donate blood.

Friday evening saw the return of the Friday 9 Ball Tournament with many of the regulars enjoying seeing each other after such a long time. It was great to so many members enjoying the Eagles lodge.

The Annual Eagles Oktoberfest Lunch was served between 11 and 2. The lunch included Pork Medallions over a bed of rice, smothered by a brown mushroom gravy sauce, Brats, Sauerkraut, Red Cabbage, German Potato Salad and Apple Strudel for dessert. Those wanting to use the very popular Curbside Service could just stay in their vehicle and grab lunch and go. Those wanting to enjoy the Oktoberfest atmosphere inside were welcomed by the virtual sounds of the Jerry Schnieder Band playing all of the Oktoberfest hits, as well as an ice cold Oktoberfest beer in a frosty mug along with their meal.

After lunch members gathered at 5 in the new addition for a Chamber of Commerce Ribbon cutting of the new Howard and Dr. Peggy Coghlan Community Center. The Ribbon Cutting honors went to Howard and Dr. Peggy Coghlan’s daughter Katie Coglan. Katie’s mom dedicated her life to “improving people’s lives” and provided the seed money to jump start the fundraising for the new hall. Joining Katie was Chamber President Brenda Flannigan, Anne Willis, Sharon McCurdy, FOE 3719 President Mike Dupree, FOE Board Members, Trustees and Ladies Auxilliary. Following the ribbon cutting guests celebrated the 44th anniversary of the FOE 3719 Chapter on the Bolivar Peninsula with some birthday cake.

The celebration continued with members and guests enjoying the Texas Country sounds of the Bobby Enloe his 7 piece band. Bobby and his band really rocked the house with members dancing non stop to the great music.

Trustee Carl Aucoin introduces the band as well as thanks Nauti’s Drive thru Barn for sponsoring the evening’s entertainment. Thank you Nauti’s they were just awesome!!

The new Community Center is available for receptions, reunions, birthday parties, anniversary celebrations, showers, etc. Memberships are available, just stop in and complete the simple application, or enjoy a Saturday lunch which are always OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

The FOE 3719 members are very proud that our very own Nancy Kaglik was elected as the 2020 State Madam President. Nancy and her husband Joe helped establish the 3719 Charter 44 years ago. We are proud to support our Madam President with Statewide project to help Stop Human Trafficking. Donations collected will help Nancy meet her goals in a very challenging year for such a worthy cause. In addition to Stopping Human Trafficking FOE members provide scholarships for local students, Christmas toys for area children, Easter Egg Hunt, CB Volunteer Fire Department, members in need, and other charitable causes.
