I have taken my boat out for planned maintenance and upgrades. Due to the storm, I will delay putting it back at the boat slip. As of writing this report, it doesn’t seem likely that I will be back for several days. I will resume trips and reports as soon as we can safely return and get on the water. As long as there is no major flooding involved, the fishing should snap back quickly. It will be a real good time to take advantage of an East Bay class/seminar in September before prime fall fishing!
Captain Bryan’s Fishing Report, 8-18-2020
The speckled trout remain scattered but present on most East Bay reefs with no big concentration or schools anywhere yet. We have done a lot of running and mainly keyed on slicks around shell to get any keepers, with Down South Plastics working better than anything including shrimp. We conducted a couple of classes this week and as of Sunday afternoon, a lot of the water clarity throughout the bay was in good shape despite the west wind.
There were scattered slicks in some areas but there still has not been a good movement of larger speckled trout back into the bay. Areas around the jetties and Galveston channel have still been fair with tide movements. And surf fishing is still good early mornings.
Some larger shrimp are beginning to move into the bay and I think it is setting up to be an exceptional fall season if we can avoid any more fresh water.
For those that have taken my class, take advantage of your included support now before planning your next trip as fishing can be challenging during this part of summer.
I have some weekdays still open toward the end of August and September and also some opportunities for classes. On the Water Classes are the Best time you will ever invest in to improve your fishing success for the long haul! I have added some special features this year!
Fall is booking up now with prime days for some of the best fishing of the year still available.

This time of year we can run trips where the whole family can be successful with a large variety of fish. Email for questions and availability. Now is the time to book an East Bay Class with the prime fishing just around the corner.
For exact fishing locations and techniques, I am conducting one-on-one classes of the Galveston East Bay System. We will spend a half-day trip exploring that bay and the techniques and timing of fishing there. Bring your hand-held GPS and a map and note pad and I will further your knowledge of the bay and patterns for fishing in all of the seasons of the year. These classes include everything from locations to tackle and lure selection; thus have a lot of content. So, I limit them to 2 persons max at a time. Call 409-256-1265 for more information. We cover a lot of area and burn a lot of gas.
Text or call 409-256-1265 for availability of trips and to reserve your fishing adventure. You can also e-mail me [email protected] for updated fishing conditions and trip availability.
