Captain Bryan’s Fishing Report, 6-16-2020

By Captain Bryan Brawner
I am just adding this note to my last week’s report as conditions haven’t changed much. We were mostly blown out this week. The wind pumped across the bay from the Northeast most of the week and we were only able to run one class with a couple of trips being cancelled. The water was rough and dirty but the salinity levels are returning. Good fishing will resume soon but conditions were windy just a few days longer than we expected. I don’t fish summer weekends, but most fish reported over the weekend were caught later in the afternoon when the winds died down drifting mid bay reefs with soft plastics.

I have some weekdays still open in August and also some opportunities for classes in July. Classes are the Best time you will ever invest in to improve your fishing success for the long haul! I have added some special features this year!

June-9-2020 Report: I held off posting my report as long as possible to monitor the impact that the tropical system would have on the bay. It looks like it will be a benefit to us and actually help drop the salinity levels more. After the winds die down mid week and tides return to normal, bay waters should clear up quickly with a good early summer pattern starting. Everything has slowly returned to good conditions with the water clearing to a good sandy green. Salinity content is slowly returning to reasonable levels.

Birds have been working some in conjunction with tide movements and keeper size specks are being caught on most mid bay reefs on soft plastics while drifting. Looks like a good summer pattern shaping up , at least for the next few weeks. I have noticed that boats from the Galveston side are showing up over here to fish East Bay this week. The jetties are the hot ticket now with a lot of action going on there with most species and surf fishing has been good in small windows when the surf is calm with green water moving in.

This time of year we can run trips where the whole family can be successful with a large variety of fish. Email for questions and availability. Now is the time to book an East Bay Class with the prime fishing just around the corner.

For exact fishing locations and techniques, I am conducting one-on-one classes of the Galveston East Bay System. We will spend a half-day trip exploring that bay and the techniques and timing of fishing there. Bring your hand-held GPS and a map and note pad and I will further your knowledge of the bay and patterns for fishing in all of the seasons of the year. These classes include everything from locations to tackle and lure selection; thus have a lot of content. So, I limit them to 2 persons max at a time. Call 409-256-1265 for more information. We cover a lot of area and burn a lot of gas.

Text or call 409-256-1265 for availability of trips and to reserve your fishing adventure. You can also e-mail me [email protected] for updated fishing conditions and trip availability.
