“She worketh willingly with her hands.” Proverbs: 31:13
A large group of loving family and friends gathered to celebrate the life of Pauline Johnson Bouse on May 19, 2020. If ever there were a life worthy of celebration it was certainly that of Pauline. Proverbs 31:10 asks, “Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is above rubies.” Pauline Johnson Bouse was that woman.
The weather must have agreed by providing blue sky, fluffy white clouds, and gentle breezes as folk arrived. Reverend Valerie Hudson and Reverend Bonnie Cowing officiated for the celebration held at Port Bolivar Cemetery. The service fit perfectly with Pauline’s life. Granddaughter Kayce Strader’s Eulogy painted a vivid recreation of her Me-Maw. This included a side note that while Pauline and her twin sister Paulette were always close, Pauline felt some guilt for letting Paulette take two spankings that should have gone to her. Kayce stated that by the time she had entered the Bouse family, her grandmother’s hands already told the story of her life. She made pallets for sleep overs, blew bubbles to entertain grandkids, hugged, mowed, planted, harvested and cooked. She fed the multitudes. Before visitors finished all of her famous chocolate chip cookies, she had a new batch baking in the oven. All of these gifts were created willingly with her hands. She planted seeds of love that would continue to grow for years even after she went to join her beloved husband Charles in Heaven.
Pauline’s large family provided proof that her planted seeds grew well. She worked the soil and tended her plants with love and care. Pauline Johnson Bouse was indeed the virtuous woman who worked willingly with her hands, and her price was above rubies.
