Fishing Report & Tide Chart For Rollover Pass TX-April-23–thru-April -30-2012

Summary:Hit or miss at the pass this past week with good speck action early in the cut or surf for specks from 3 to 7lbs- Reds were slow for the most part with a few caught from 28 to 43inches- Large Gaff-Top also made the scene with one estimated at 10lbs- Flounder were few but anglers caught quality flatfish with one 24inch doormat reported- When gusty winds lay the action should pick up for all species.
Speckled Trout– Gusty winds ruled the bite but anglers still caught some good specks to 7lbs both bayside and gulf side with surf action providing limits when winds allowed.(Size and Limits- 15inches to 25inches for 10 specks with one 25incher per day when added as part of the daily limit)
Redfish– Gusty winds kept the bite down somewhat with anglers catching a few good reds to 43inches.  (Size and Limits- 20inches to 28inches for 3 reds- with one over 28inches when tagged in addition to the 3 fish daily slot-limit)
Flounder– SLOW but bayside bulkheads providing enough flatfish to make it interesting with one 24inch doormat reported-(limit- 14inches minimum for 5 flounder per day)
Black Drum- Fair to good for keeper-eater drum to 24inches or more- – REMEMBER- ALL drum under 14inces and over 30inches MUST be released- NO TAGGING. ( Limits- 5 per day at 15- 30 inches)
GAFFTOP Good to excellent gaff-top runs with several large cats coming in with one estimated at 10 lbs.  (limits- 14inch minimum no creel limit)
Sheepshead- SLOW – (Limits- 15 inches minimum with 5 allowed per day)
Sand/Gulf Trout – SLOW- (no limits-)
Whiting/Croaker– SLOW- ((Limits-No Limits)
Shark Shark beginning to show up with several Bonnethead caught in surf.  (limit- 1 at 24inches)
