Shannon O’Brien’s scorecard in the after-scramble game on Sunday, September 14th, showed he shot a 41 to finish third behind arch-nemeses Michael Comeaux and John Milby by two shots. The record reflects O’Brien fired four sixes, two fives, two threes and one glorious one for his strange total of 41. Shannon’s eleventh career hole-in-one came on the tough eighth hole from 146 yards out with his eight iron. Nice shot Shannon.
David Buchanan, whose shoulder showed no ill effects from the two cases of shotgun shells he discharged while slaughtering doves in West Texas last week, captured first place in the 9/25 Thursday Par 3 contest with a 29, edging Sean O’Brien and Mike VanZandt by one shot. Dallas semi-pro golfer Sean O’Brien, Shannon’s slightly younger sibling who has not lost the pigmentation in his hair or a round of golf to Shannon in over twenty years, picked up a skin with a birdie on No. 3 to split the skins money with Shannon, who birdied No. 6. The Dabtician opened up with five straight pars before cratering on the final four holes for a 32. Sylvester, the golf course cat, has refused to enter the clubhouse for the past few days, apparently in protest of the appearance of a new kitten which wandered up at the Ranch.
