CHARLOTTE MIZENER
Charlotte Mizener is a professor of music education at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, where she teaches undergraduate and graduate music education courses and applied harp. She also serves as the coordinator of music education and the graduate adviser. She previously taught elementary music in grades kindergarten through six. She received the Bachelor of Music Education degree and Master of Music in harp performance degree from the University of North Texas and the PhD in music education from the University of Texas at Austin.

She also performs with ensembles on the Lamar University campus. In addition, she frequently plays for weddings, receptions, and parties.
GARY MIZENER
Gary Mizener is an adjunct professor of music at Lamar University. He earned a Bachelor of Music—Music Composition degree and a Master of Music Education degree from the University of North Texas. He later completed a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in clarinet at the University of Texas at Austin. He currently teaches theory fundamentals, theory, orchestration, form and analysis, and technology in music at Lamar. He is a prize winner in the Texas Composer’s Guild Composition Festival for a work for soprano and cello.
While in the Dallas area, Dr. Mizener taught clarinet in several school districts in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area, as well as music fundamentals and composition for young students. He served as co-principal clarinet with the Valley Symphony Orchestra in Edinburg, Texas and played with the South Texas Lyric Opera orchestra in Mc Allen, Texas. Before going to Southeast Texas, he played with the North Dallas Chamber Orchestra and the Lake Cities Symphony in Lewisville, Texas. In addition, he played B-flat and solo E-flat clarinet in the Fort Worth Professional Concert Band. He studied with Lee Gibson, Andrew Crisanti, James Gillespie, Harry Schmidt, and Leland Munger.
I am quite excited about this event because normally we would have to drive into Houston to experience something like this, and even then it wouldn’t be in such an intimate setting. Both Dr. Charlotte Mizener and Dr. Gary Mizener are amazing. For me, their music is breathtaking and stunning. This is just one of those rare moments that I hope many people attend. I can’t thank both Dr. Mizeners enough for working it into their quite busy schedule to come to the beach and perform for us.
