Fishing Report For June 10 through June 16, 2013

By Ed Snyder/Outdoors
Summary:  Croaker, whiting, and sand trout were the steady bites for the week with specks, reds, and flounder filling in the void for early bird anglers. The Spring flounder run is all but over as we settle into our summer fishing patterns. Night-time is the right time for specks and flounder giggers with early morning surf and bay producing for the early waders.

Speckled Trout:
When tides and weather allow EXCELLENT for wade and wall anglers fishing mirror lures or live croaker. key action zeros in on the changing tide with the outgoing being the main attraction-(limit-15 inch minimum for 10 trout with only one 25 inch trout per day allowed as part of your daily limit).

Redfish (Red Drum):
Slow to fair with night and surf anglers catching the main share of these spot tail species. Rat reds beginning to show up and some devious anglers are keeping them, WATCH OUT DUDES, We are WATCHING YOU!! (Limits- 20 inches minimum to 28 inch maximum for 3 reds per day- one over 28 inch red allowed when tagged and as a part of your 3 fish limit).

Black Drum:
Though the drum run is over there are plenty of puppy drum to be caught, but heed the limit regulations (14 inch minimum to 30 inch maximum for 5 fish per day with one OVER 52 inches allowed when a part of your daily limit).

Flounder:
Actually really good with one of the best spring flounder runs keeping the flounder pounders busy with some quality as well as quantity- Good flounder action for day or night waders as well. (14 inch minimum for 5 fish per day).

Sheepshead:
SLOW, (Limit- 15 inch minimum with 5 per day Creel).

Gafftop Catfish:
Good runs of gafftop still happening although the size is dwindling from those 6 to 8 pounders to the 2 and 3 pounders being caught today. (14 inch minimum for no limit creel).

Whiting/Croaker:
Good whiting and excellent croaker in the cut. (No Limit).

Sandtrout/Gulftrout:
No Report – NOTE – some anglers are catching sand perch (yellow tails),and are mistaking them for sand trout. (No Limits).

Blue Claw Crab:
Steady crab in size and numbers,(5 inches between points with no berry crabs, (females with eggs).

Stone Crabs:
A few stones coming in from the rocky areas, (limit, only right claw may be kept when 2 1/2 inches above first knuckle).

Stingaree bait camp report:

An oversized tagger redfish is NOT counted as part of the 3 fish limit. Check the TDPW regs.
