Here’s another of my life’s revelations – Life is Too Short! And here’s what I’ve come up with over the years, some may sound wasteful to you, but just think about it, some are pretty simple and easy to accomplish. Like, for instance, fruit…you can never really tell what a cantaloupe or a watermelon are going to taste like, will it be sweet and juicy? Will you want to finish it all at one sitting? If it’s not, does it just sit in the refrigerator taking up space until next garbage day? Heck, if it’s no good, pitch it! And, what about a book you’ve been dying to read. You pick just the right time, the house is quiet, you’re all comfy on the couch, book in hand, Chapter 1, 2, 3, wait a minute, I’m just not getting it … How many more chapters are you going to go through before you realize you’re just “not going to get it?” Listen, these are minutes you’re never going to get back.
Here’s a simple one – ANGER. Now, how wasteful and damaging is Anger? An emotion which takes up so much of our time and energy. Happy is so much easier and feels good! A dead-end job. Not so easy to get out of, I admit. But, keep this in the back of your mind – “If you enjoy your job, you’ll never have to work a day in your life!”
I recently baked a cake, it was a recipe I’d seen on Facebook, some pineapple/angel food, easy as pie to make. It smelled good, it was moist, we tried it with cool whip. It sat there for a day and a half, untouched. I asked my husband if he really liked it and we both admitted we really didn’t, so out it went, only to be replaced with a wonderful spice cake with butterscotch icing we knew we both loved.
I’m telling you, Life if Too Short to put up with anything you really, absolutely, don’t have to do! Go ahead and pitch those peaches, try the strawberries!
