GCA to begin Fee Schedule March 1

The Gilchrist Community Association (GCA) Legal Defense Fund Committee has come up with a fee schedule for parking at Rollover Pass to help alleviate legal costs. Effective March 1st, 2013, all visitors to Rollover Pass will be required to have a current GCA Membership Sticker or purchase a Day Parking Tag.

Parking permit/memberships and more information can be obtained at any business in Gilchrist, or after hours at the Bulletin Board located at the ice machine platform, or by calling the GCA duty person at 409-739-9847.

I lead a class in coastal geology. What if I just want to show my class the Pass? No one in our group will be fishing.

  2. As a Board member of the GCA Gilchrist Community assn. I wish to thank all those who are pitching in not only with memberships in the assn. but thru their purchases of daily passes and the many who are making cash donations to our Legal Fund to keep the pass open to the fishing public. This is one of the best fishing places on the upper gulf coast and we intend to keep it open for years to come. Many of us remember fishing here for more than 50 years and grew up with the pass and for us it is more than a fishing spot it is a place where everlasting friendships and relationships have been made. This pass has supported a community for many years and this community is just starting to recover from the devastation of Hurricane Ike that nearly wiped out the entire peninsula from High Island to the Galveston Ferry. Closing this pass would be more devastating to Bolivar Peninsula than all the storms of the past and must remain as a recreation point for the entire peninsula.

Thank you for your continued support and happy fishing

This is a fair call and I’m with it. My first there was horrible for fishing and had an empty cooler back home. What I did notice was that there must some regulations in place in order to promote some revenue generation from anglers who come out there and enjoy the spot. Ill be out there soon !!!!
