Sunny skies and a calm breeze greeted the forty golfers on Saturday participating in the 2017 Texas Crab Festival Golf Tournament. Teams were selected by blind draw on Friday Night at the calcutta, hosted by Chris and Karen Gatlin at Tiki Beach Bar & Grill. With perfect conditions and a well-groomed course, low scores were anticipated. Tee off was at 8:00 with a shotgun start. As always, Gray Hays drove the beer cart and served up his signature Bloody Marys. Another mainstay, Larry Flanagan, fired up the grill to cook sausage and boudin donated by Zummo. The course featured a $10,000 prize for a hole-in-one on #3, and two closest-to-the-pin holes.
Four teams turned in 8-under-par scorecards, forcing a course-tradition shootout. All 16 players each took a shot from 100 yards, with closest to the pin earning their team the win.
A big THANK YOU to tournament director Lance Ferguson, and all the players and sponsors, for making the tournament a success.
