will find the classes for the week of July 26 - July 29, 2010. If you
would like to register for one of the classes, please contact the office
from 9am-4pm, Monday - Friday. Reservations will be accepted up to
the day before the class. Payment is required at the time of
registration. Cancellations must be received 24 hours in advance. Any
cancellations the day of the class will not be refunded or credited to
any class. You can pay over the phone with Visa, MasterCard, Discover,
or you may bring in cash or check. If you have any questions or would

Business Plan Lab
07/26/2010 -Monday
1pm-4pm- FREE
On Monday's
the SBDC is providing a consultant to assist in our business plan
lab. The lab is by reservation only, please call Friday by 4:30 pm the
week prior to reserve your spot. Reminder this is NOT a class.
Startup Checklist
07/27/2010- Tuesday

The purpose of the workshop is:
·Provide a step-by step process to follow when starting a business
·Identify the key legal obligations
·Provide examples of business financial statements
·Identify sources for assistance
·Help you decide if owning a business if for you.
Introduction to Excel

Learn
how to create spreadsheets in MS Excel 2007. Hands-on class will cover
entering and editing data, utilizing auto-fill function, creating simple
formulas, formatting and printing of data.
Orientation to Small Business Development Center
07/28/2010- Wednesday
10am-11am - FREE
This
is a weekly orientation to Galveston County Small Business Development
Center. This class is conducted every Wednesday from 10-11 am. This
one hour class will be overview of who we are, what we do, and how we
can help a new business start up or existing businesses that want to
grow. The objective is to answer questions and suggest a path.
FREE Lunch and Learn
07/28/10 - Wednesday
11:45am - 1:30pm
Mr.
Shaun Tinoco, M.S.R.E., a technical consultant with SATOP (Space
Alliance Technical Outreach Program) will be our guest speaker. SATOP
is a program that can make up to 40 hours of engineer consulting time
available at no cost to any SBDC client. SATOP has engineers of all
kinds, electrical, mechanical, chemical and others that can solve almost
any technical problem, like noise abatement, moisture control, drainage
issues, or even product design.
Lunch will be ordered, so reservations must be made. Reservations will be accepted up to 1 day of the program.

PowerPoint

6pm - 9pm- $25.00
This
three-hour course is designed to give the participants basic practical
skills in developing effective Power Point presentations. The main goal
is to enable the students to design and present an effective positive
presentation incorporating effective professional presentation,
speaking, and design concepts. The students will develop at least five
slides, on a topic of their choosing, using the basic design paradigm of
Keep It Simple and good presentation concepts.

The Galveston County SBDC will serve as the TechnicalAssistanceCenter for a new pool of funds to be
lent to GalvestonCountybusinesses.These funds have only recently become available and are designated to
assist businesses that sustained losses due to Hurricane Ike.If approved, most loans will be funded in
the range $50,000 to $150,000.Terms
will be five to seven years.Derogatory
credit that is specifically due to hurricane damage can be overcome with a
written explanation.However, the loan
documentation requirements are somewhat extensive and require a good business
plan among other things.Our center will
provide you with technical assistance in preparing your loan application.
If you have a business (or know someone who does) that
suffered physical and economic damage due to Hurricane Ike, please email or
call for an application packet and more information.
