CAJUN CORNER...
Boudreaux's Lesson
Boudreaux was at the bar every day drinking beer.
Well, Thibodaux wanted to teach Boudreaux a lesson.
So Thibodaux, he told the bartender to give him a glass of water and a glass of beer.
Thibodaux went outside and found two worms.
He put one in the water and it wiggled around, he put the other one in the beer and it curled up and died.
Thibodaux asked Boudreaux, "What did you learn?"
Boudreaux said, "Mais, look like to me, if I keep
drinking beer I wont get da worms."

At the request of the county, the city and the Galveston Park Board of Trustees, the state has agreed to extend the public comment period to Aug. 15. The rules will not take effect until sometime in the fall.
The land office will hold public hearings on the rules from 11 a.m. to 2
p.m. July 8 at the jury room in the County Justice Center, 600 59th St., and
from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the county annex in Crystal Beach, 946 Noble Carl
Drive.
The proposed rules cover two major subject areas:
One group of rules primarily provides new procedures for local governments
and the GLO to follow when processing individual Beach Construction Certificates
and Dune Protection Permits, as well as local government beach access and
use plans.
The second group of rules outlines guidelines for local governments that choose
to adopt erosion response plans containing a building setback line.

Press Release
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Date: 06/26/2008
Subject: Sheriff's Office Launches "Drunk Driving. Over The Limit. Under
Arrest." Enforcement Initiative
From June 27th through July 6th, members of Galveston County Sheriff's Office will be participating in a nationwide initiative focused toward removing intoxicated drivers from county roadways.
The "Drunk Driving. Over The Limit. Under Arrest." Program, funded through a Texas Department of Transportation traffic safety grant, is specifically designed to put more officers on the street, targeting impaired drivers of all types.
"The focus of this program," said Sheriff Gean Leonard, "is to remove impaired drivers from the road. While an arrest is appropriate in many circumstances, we must remember the key to the success of this program is enhancing the safety of the public."
Deputies working this assignment, in addition to their own directed enforcement of DWI and DUI laws, will support patrol functions by processing DWI and DUI suspects found by other officers, allowing those personnel to return to their regular duties.
"The efficiencies we gain coupled with increasing safety on the roadways make this program worthwhile," said Leonard.
Maj. Eric Nevelow, the Sheriff's Office Criminal Law Enforcement commander, noted that "we continue to see far too many injuries and deaths attributed to impaired driving. It simply isn't worth the risk."
Leonard joins other law enforcement officers throughout the nation in asking drivers to be particularly cautious during the coming holiday.
