Joe and Anna Butticcio, pulled Michael from the burning vehicle.
"Every Parents Nightmare"
On Friday June 11th I received the call of every parents nightmare. My son, Michael had been in an automobile accident and is in very serious condition.  I learned from the media and other's that it was a "near" head on collision that sent his car into the woods where it caught on fire.  He was trapped in his seat belt while bystanders stood and watched and listened to his cries for help.
A couple standing nearby, Joe and Anna Butticcio, pulled Michael from the burning vehicle.  Mike was life flighted to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New york with burns over 69% of his body.  The Doctors have given him less then a 50% chance of survival.
Michael attended Bolivar Elementary from 1985-1988 (K-3) and also attended Bay Vue Methodist Sunday School until we moved to the NW.  He occasionally worked  shrimp season for Cowboy and I when we had our shrimp boat in the mid 1990's to early 2000.  He also worked briefly for John and Joanie Harding.
Friends and Family have been so wonderful to offer their support.  I am so thankful for you ALL.
With much appreciation to ALL, Sincerely,
Kellie Untermeyer

Jerry Valentine is celebrating another victory.....

Next Saturday, July 24th, at 6:00, we will gather at Coconuts Restaurant here at Crystal Beach to celebrate Jerry's 62nd birthday.  For those of you not familiar with Coconuts, their food is excellent and not overly expensive.  We would love to have everyone attend;  Jerry doesn't get out much except to go to the hospital or church.  He does not get the opportunity to visit with old friends or family and he misses that part of his life.  Please try to come if you can!  Debbie

When and how do you pray?

It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to the Most High. It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning, your faithfulness in the evening, accompanied by the harp and lute and the harmony of the lyre. You thrill me, Lord, with all you have done for me! I sing for joy because of what you have done. ~ Psalm 92:1-4 NLT

Giving thanks morning and night

What a way to start the day! The verses in Psalm 92 represent one of the first prayers on the priests' lips on the Sabbath day: "You thrill me, Lord, with all you have done for me!"
What if before you read your morning paper, before you head out the door, before you start the countless tasks you have to do for each day, you determine that you're going to start your day with praise for how God has "thrilled" you? Right now, you have the chance to start afresh. A new day is before you. Why not start things off right with a regimen of praise instead of the old routine? In prayer today, proclaim his unfailing love, and tonight, before going to bed, praise him again for his faithfulness.

Sheryl Swift of Galveston will take her seat August 20th at the next meeting of the Board of the Texas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board (TALCB).  Governor Rick Perry announced Ms. Swift's appointment as a public member (representative) July 14th.  The TALCB adopts rules for the licensing and certification of real estate appraisers in the State, taking great pride in protecting Texas consumers by ensuring qualified and ethical appraisers are licensed.

Chief Deputy of Operations for the Galveston County Tax Office, Ms. Swift is a Registered Texas Assessor Collector, an accomplishment that spanned three TACs.   "Ms. Swift has played a critical role in turning the Galveston County Tax Office around over the last six years, helping build a team that enabled us to be active participants during the last Legislative Session," stated County Tax Assessor Collector Cheryl Johnson,   "Her leadership was obviously noticed and I am both pleased that the Governor recognized her achievements and proud to work beside her each day."

A member of the Tax Association of Assessing Officers and the Texas Assessor and Collector Association, Ms. Swift joins Robert Davis of Coppell and Malachi Boyuls of Dallas as newly appointed members.  Their duties will include making policy for the enforcement arm of the licensed appraiser community.  "I look forward to fulfilling the duties associated with this position and am proud to serve the people of this great State," stated Ms. Swift.

We will be having our first vacation bible school since before Ike. Thanks to a lot of prayers, and a great big thank you to Mrs Gaylyn Brewer of Bear Creek.
