25^th Annual Texas Crab Festival on

Bolivar Peninsula

A whole year of planning goes into this before Mr. Joe Faggard can raise the US flag at the opening ceremony of the 25^th Annual Texas Crab Festival.  Joe, 91 at present, formerly a constable of past years on the peninsula is pictured in the slide show above with the present Constable, William Comeaux.  Also, he is pictured with his younger brother, Bootsie.

Oliver from Bolivar made his showing again this year along with vendors and rides and entertainment.  Job Well Done, Bolivar!!

The Power in Prayer

[Jesus told them,] "Now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven." ~ Luke 24:49 NLT

Golden promises

Before Jesus sent out the disciples to take the message of the gospel to all nations, he assured them of his promise to send the Holy Spirit. That promise motivated them to continue with one accord in prayer (Acts 1:14). God's promises are provided to stir us and inspire us to pray. Those precious promises - there are hundreds throughout the Bible - show us things God has purposed and wants us to ask for, just as he wanted his disciples to ask for the Holy Spirit so they would have power for ministry. These golden promises teach us about how to pray, and they build our faith. "If I am to have faith when I pray," said American evangelist R.A. Torrey, "I must find some promise in the Word of God on which to rest my faith.   If there is no promise in the Word of God, and no clear leading of the Spirit, there can be no real faith." Today, ask the Lord which of his promises he wants you to pray about. The Holy Spirit will fill you with power from on high to accomplish what needs to be done.

THANK YOU, FATHER, for the promises in your word. May they be incentives for me to continue in prayer so that your will may be accomplished and your kingdom will come in my life, family, nation, and world. Holy Spirit, thank you for dwelling within me and for filling me with your power. Let my prayers be pleasing to you, Father, as your Spirit leads me in praying in light of your promises.

 Call for 30,000 Taxpayers to Contact County Tax Office

  More than 30,000 property owners in Galveston County recently received 33.07 delinquent property tax notices (May letters) from GCTO last month.  This is the second notification sent each year to County taxpayers.  The February reminder notices generally allow us to correct any posting errors and allows property owners an opportunity to demonstrate that an attempt to pay timely was made.

By May, penalties and interest have already reached the alarming rate of 13% on the unpaid balance, 15% in June.  July 1^st, 33% to 38% penalty, interest, and attorney fees accrue, unless you sign a payment agreement with the County Tax Office.

Pay agreements will not stop penalty and interest from continuing to rise but, when honored, prevent the 15% to 20% attorney fee from being assessed.  Taxpayers need to be aware that the deadline to sign an agreement is June 30^th and that a down payment is required to establish the contract.

Please contact the Property Tax Department of the Galveston Tax Office no later than June 30^th and avoid additional charges!

One day, Boudreaux had a sign in his yard that read "Boat for Sale."

Pierre came by and said, "Boudreaux ... tell me sometin ... why you got dat sign in dat yard dat say 'Boat for Sale'? Mais, you ain't got no boat!"

Boudreaux replied "Mais no I don't got no boat, but see my car over dare by dat sign?"

Pierre responded "Mais yeah I see dat car."

Boudreaux then said "And see my trailor over dare by dat sign?"
