What is trust?

Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O Lord, have never abandoned anyone who searches for you. ~ Psalm 9:10 NLT

Trust involves letting go and knowing God will catch you. ~ James Dobson

Why Not?

Something is holding us back. Perhaps it is a fear that maybe we are wrong about God. Maybe we feel presumptuous. It is possible, if we have been disappointed in the past, that our misunderstanding is haunting us. We hear a voice in the back of our minds that says, "What if God doesn't come through? What if he makes it more difficult than I can handle? What if all my hopes are illusions?" So we hesitate to trust God. We pray and we hope, but faith remains incomplete and doubts linger. We'll ask Him to help us, but we withhold judgment until we've seen His response.

We are called to believe God with reckless abandon-not just believe that He is there and that He is involved with us somehow; but that He is actively, personally seeking our good and answering our prayers. We are to give up our own strategies and ambitions, to relinquish all "Plan Bs," to recklessly, irrevocably cast ourselves completely into His arms.

God called Abraham to leave Haran and go to a place to be revealed later. Jesus invited Peter to step out of the boat and walk on water. That kind of call is scary, though typical in God's Kingdom. But why is it scary? Where could He lead us that we'd regret? Would He ever lead us into danger but not out of it?

God calls us to "reckless" trust, the kind that prepares no safety net and reserves nothing for a spiritually rainy day. Try to find someone God had forsaken, observe His faithfulness, and ask yourself: "Why wouldn't I trust Him wholeheartedly? Think about it. Why not?

JANE LONG FESTIVAL

Attention Arts and Crafts Vendors! A JANE LONG FESTIVAL IS BEING ORGANIZED FOR  OCTOBER 2010  We are looking for vendors and on site demonstrations of early crafts and/or homemaking  remedies that were in use and /or popular around the turn of the century, ie, making horseshoes, soap,  canning, woodcrafts, quilting , banjo/guitar players, mimes, etc.. Vendors are asked to submit a description of their products or art work for approval  so as not to have too many  duplications. Please include contact information.  Booth rent will be  very reasonable for this one day event. The purpose is to raise money  for improvements but mostly to create awareness of Fort Travis on Bolivar Peninsula so that it may become eligible for  Federal Funding  for major improvements and promotion.
A drama production will be presented about the life of Jane Long "The Mother of Texas" and vendors  are asked to dress  in costumes of the era..As well as those attending!
Thank you!

CAJUN CORNER

Boudreaux meets the black iron skillet:

One day while Clotile was washing Boudreaux's clothes, she found a piece of paper in Boudreaux's pants pocket. She opens up the paper and it has the name "Mary Lou" written on it.

Clotile got real mad and stormed into the room where Boudreaux was and said, "Mais Boudreaux, you better explain to me who dis 'Mary Lou' is, rite now!"

Boudreaux said, "Mais Clotile, don't you go worryin bout dat. I went to de race track today and dat's the horse dat I bet on!"

Clotile thought about it some and said "OK, but don't you ever let me find out dat you been messin around with somebody else."

The next day the phone rang and Clotile answered it, after a while she hung up the phone and then went over to Boudreaux carrying a big iron skillet. Clotile hit Boudreaux on the side of the head with the skillet.

Boudreaux, rubbing his head, said "Clotile, mais what you done dat for?!"

Clotile said, "Mais, your horse just called!"
