Prudential Gary Greene - Beach or Bay's Build Bolivar Events began
in the month after Ike as "Meet and Greet Luncheons" in Beaumont. They began
as an opportunity for property owners to stay in touch while getting up to date
information from infrastructure rebuilding to insurance problems and
claims. In August of 2009, the location was moved to Crystal Beach and up
to date information now came from the insurance claims industry
including adjuster and lawyer but also builders, lenders and other
rebuilding specialties. Since then Prudential Gary Greene - Beach or Bay
has hosted two in the Houston area, one in Beaumont and two more in
Crystal Beach.
The Building Bolivar event held last Saturday at Coconuts involved
Advantage Housing, Gabourel Insurance, SunCoast Claims, Inc, Premier, Harmony
Builders and Voss Law Firm.

One Room at a Time is an interior custom painting and design service
owned by Ellen Kennedy, a local resident of Crystal Beach. Her painting
partner is Robert Fridge who is also a resident of Crystal Beach. They
work together as independent contractors and have been designing and painting
on the BolivarPeninsula
for over six years.
They
are known for high contrast colors and specialty texture and glaze
techniques. They enjoy working directly with the owners to design a
bright, welcoming palette for their homes, but will work with general
contractors as well.
Their
main focus has been remodeling, but will work with new construction.
Two new homes on the peninsula were recently painted by One Room
at a Time and can make appointments for you to see them. For more
information or to make an appointment, please call 409-684-0176.

Jesus knew that everything was now finished, and to
fulfill the Scriptures he said, "I am thirsty." ~ John 19:28 NLT
Taking
the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and
broke the loaves. Then he gave them to his disciples to set before the people.
He also divided the two fish among them all. They all ate and were satisfied,
and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces of bread and
fish. ~ Mark 6:41-43 NLT
Break
Thou the bread of life, dear Lord, to me,
As though didst break the loaves beside the sea;
Beyond the sacred page I seek Thee, Lord;
My spirit pants for Thee, O Living Word!

Bread
of Life
One of the women who
lingered at the foot of the cross had once known thirst that ordinary water
couldn't quench. She had been an outcast among her peers. She had a great need, and nothing could fill
the emptiness, the void within her. Then came the day when she met Jesus.
Although her accusers had already given up on her and would readily have stoned
her, Jesus saw her need, and rather than give up on her, he faced her accusers
and saved not only her life but her soul as well. From that moment forward,
Mary Magdalene was a devoted disciple of Christ, following him even to the foot
of a brutal cross. When Jesus cried out in thirst, the soldiers mistook it for
weakness of the flesh and thrust sour wine to his lips. What they didn't
comprehend is that Jesus' words were a declaration of his completion of his
Father's work. He was thirsty because he was being poured out as an offering,
not only for the grateful woman who knelt at this feet but also for generations
of people to come.
JESUS, you poured out your
life like an offering and gave me living water that saved and restores my soul.
Help me to take that same living water and extend it to those around me who are
thirsty. Please us me to reach out to the abandoned, the scorned, the
unlovable, with your sacrificial love.
In all reality, I was
rather impressed with the group of contractors and sub-contractors gathered
today at the Methodist church on Bolivar for a discussion of the coming
building frenzy on the Peninsula.

All construction halted by GalvestonCounty.
New
construction at 1031 Gayle St
in Gilchrist, TX has come to a halt.Apparently, the engineer made an error in
elevating this home to a height of only 13' above sea level.ALL new structures MUST be AT LEAST 17' above
sea level. So for now, construction at this building site has come to a
grinding halt.Sean Welsh, Galveston
County Building Permit verified this structure WILL NOT get a permit nor will
it get electricity until it is raised to compliance.
Construction
at the site on Gayle St.
is being built by Compass Pointe.Compass Pointe is one of the contractors who were approved for the CDBG
grant monies from IKE.The spokesman
for Compass Point did identify this structure being financed from grant monies
back from Hurricane Rita. They are also
building a home on Flora (right off Crystal
Beach Road, bayside), also from a grant monies
from Hurricane Rita.

* CLOSING OF ROLLOVERPASS *
One of the mission purposes of the Gilchrist Community Association "is
to
provide civic duties at RolloverPass" but RolloverPass
is in danger of being closed and we need your help. The Texas General
Land
Office has applied for a permit from the Army Corps of Engineers to
close RolloverPass. There is
currently a public
comment time period occurring from now until April 12, 2010. After the
public comment period has closed, the Corps will review all
correspondence and
make their decision whether or not to award the permit to the General
Land
Office.
Here are some questions and concerns that we would
like to make sure the Corps of Engineers considers before considering
the
permit.http://www.rolloverpasstexas.com/

CAJUN CORNER
Hole in the Ground
Boudreaux
and Pierre were walking through the woods one day, when Boudreaux grabbed Pierre by the arm pulling
him back. Boudreaux says, "Whooee, Pierre,
look at dat big hole you almost stepped in!"
Pierre looks down into the hole,
and says, "Whooee, Boudreaux, dat sure looks like a deep hole. I wonder
how deep dat hole goes ?"
They find a rock, and throw it into the hole,
listening to see how long it will take to hit the bottom. They don't hear
anything. They find a bigger rock and repeat the process, but still don't hear
it hit.
Pierre notices a railroad tie
lying in the bushes, picks it up and throws it into the hole. While they are
listening for the railroad tie to hit the bottom, a little billy goat comes running
out of the bushes, runs right between them and jumps into the hole.
A few minutes later, their friend, Thibodaux comes walking through the bushes.
Boudreaux says, "Hey Thibodaux, what you doin' way out here in de
woods?"
Thibodaux answers, "Well I'm out
here looking for my little billy goat."
Pierre says, "You want to
hear sometin funny, Thibodaux?
The strangest ting just happend. A little billy goat just came running out dem
bushes, and jumped right in dat deep hole right dere."
Thibodaux says, "Oh dat couldn't
have been my billy goat. My goat was tied to a railroad tie back in dose
bushes!"
