Good Friday ~ April 2, 2010
Easter Sunday falls on April 4, 2010.
The
F.O.E. 3719 Eagles would like to thank the entire BolivarPeninsula
community for coming out in support of the fund-raising efforts this past
Saturday to help re-build its Aerie Home lost during IKE. The day began
the 34th annual Eagles Easter Egg Hunt with over 50 children
earning lots of prizes in the process. Bala from the 0-2 year olds won
the coveted gold bunny finding 37 eggs with Alex and Olivia close behind.
Bailey Cass found 56 eggs among the 3-5 year olds with Chris Bransma and Chris
Probst finishing 2nd and 3rd. Gavin
came in first among the 6-8 year olds followed by Aubrey and Sara
Campbell. Vanessa led the more experienced egg hunters in the 9-12
year old category followed by Kaitlyn and Tamara. The most prized egg of
all, the golden egg, was found by Lacey. A big thanks to the Eagle
Ladies Auxiliary for hosting such a fun community event.
Following
the Easter egg hunt was the Eagles Crawfish boil. Over 200 people
stopped by to enjoy some of the best crawfish of the season.
Entertaining the crowd with some fantastic music was Tropical
Depression. In addition to the crawfish, music, and
raffles, the community really enjoyed a beautiful day renewing
friendships and making some new ones. A special thanks to everyone
who helped making this event a tremendous success.

Austin and Nancy went fishing last Friday at Sea Wolf Park..... the biggest fish story yet!!
Austin conned Nancy into getting he a lot of bait; shrimp, squid and mullets. Austin actually caught this on a lure. His biggest fish yet. And certainly the cooler's biggest fish!

The next day, the news that Jesus was on the way to Jerusalem swept through
the city. A huge crowd of Passover visitors took palm branches and went down
the road to meet him. John 12:12 NLT
From
Olivet they followed mid an exultant crowd the victor palm branch waving, and
chanting clear and loud; the Lord of men and angels rode on in lowly state, nor
scorned that little children should on His bidding wait.Hosanna, Loud Hosanna by Jeannette
Threlfall (1821-1880)
Praising her victorious Savior
Today is Palm Sunday. The
triumphal entry into Jerusalem
was the scene of a curious exchange between Jesus and the religious leaders of
the day. A crowd was following Jesus, waving palms and singing,
"Hosanna!" This term, literally meaning, "Lord, save us!"
was also a cry of praise.
This crowd included a number
of children, no doubt caught up in the excitement of the day. The leaders asked
Jesus to tell the children to stop such singing. Certainly Jesus wouldn't want
innocent kids to be guilty of blasphemy. "Do you hear what these children
are saying?" they asked Jesus.
Yes, Jesus said, quoting
Psalm 8:2, "From the lips of children and infants you have ordained
praise." (Matthew 21:16)
You might think that
Jeannette Threlfall had many reasons not
to praise God. Orphaned young, shuttled among relatives, she was injured in an
accident and became an invalid. Yet she remained cheery and faithful, penning
many Christian poems and hymns. Her life was a cry of hosanna! to her victorious
Savior.
